Summer 2023 Day 1: JFK to Berlin

drewgreeley13

Today my friend Ryan and I headed on our European adventure.

We took our first flight from Boston's Logan Airport to JFK in NY.

We met up with other kids on our tour, all of whom were wearing their teal blue Travel for Teens t-shirts. We also met our tour guides, Shan and Leo. We took an overnight flight from NY to Berlin.

We arrived in Berlin a bit jet lagged and spent the day getting to know the tour guides and other kids on the tour.

We walked over to Hackescher Markt, a square with lots of restaurants and food stalls. We had some lunch and explored a bit until we could check into our hotel.

Our touristy activity of the day was visiting the Reichstag Building, the government building that houses Germany's parliament. The building was constructed in 1884 but a huge glass dome atop it was added in 1999 making it look a little more modern. We walked up to the top of the dome, enjoying a great view of the city along the way.

At dinner we had an authentic German meal. We had sausage and Wienerschnitzel and Schweinshaxe, roasted ham hock. Overall a good start to our trip but I'm feeling super tired and jet lagged and hoping to enjoy a good nights sleep and feeling less tired in the morning.
